AWAI　奄美 2016–2025

写真家・館野二朗が、2016年から10年にわたり奄美諸島で撮影を続けてきた写真をまとめた一冊。

森と海、光と影、生と死。
島々を旅しながら、その土地に流れる時間と自然、人々の営みに向き合い、撮り重ねてきた作品が収められています。

タイトルの「AWAI」は「間（あわい）」から。
異なるものの境界に漂う気配に惹かれ、奄美へ通い続けた10年。その経験と記憶の積み重なりから生まれた写真集です。

館野二朗｜Jiro Tateno

若い頃からバックパッカーの旅やフライフィッシングを通して自然と向き合い、2000年頃より写真家として活動を開始。独自の視点と確かな技術で自然の美を捉え、2016年からは奄美諸島をテーマに精力的に撮影を続けています。

2024年、キヤノン・オープン・ギャラリー1にて個展「奄美 ゲニウス・ロキ」を開催。現在も旅を続けながら、各地で出会う風景から生まれる写真作品を発表しています。

AWAI — Amami 2016–2025

A photographic collection by Jiro Tateno, bringing together ten years of work made across the Amami Islands since 2016.

Forest and sea, light and shadow, life and death.
Travelling through the islands, Tateno has photographed the landscapes, people and rhythms of life he encountered, tracing the subtle spaces that exist between one world and another.

The title AWAI comes from the Japanese word awai — the space or interval between things.

This book gathers a decade of encounters, experiences and memories shaped by Amami.

Jiro Tateno

Jiro Tateno developed a deep interest in the natural world through his early experiences of backpacking and fly-fishing, and began his practice as a photographer around 2000.

Since 2016, he has focused extensively on the Amami Islands. In 2024, he held the solo exhibition Amami Genius Loci at Canon Open Gallery 1. He continues to travel and create photographic works born from the landscapes he encounters.
